Sadayuki Okamoto began his career in 1976 at the age of 21 as a Kitchen Assistant at Kappoh Seigetsu in Tokyo before working his way up to Senior Chef in 1985. During this time he learned the skills and knowledge essential to the understanding of Japanese food and artistry. Okamoto moved to London in 1987, where he took up a Head Chef position at Kiku in Mayfair. After a brief spell as Chef de Partie at Soho’s Mezzo, Okamoto moved on to the Upper Restaurant of The Savoy as Speciality Sushi Chef in February 1999, where he became one of London’s most respected Japanese chefs. After five successful years at The Savoy, Okamoto enjoyed spells at Cocoon (Regent Street), The Montcalm (Marble Arch), Kingly Club (Covent Garden), The Ivy Club Restaurant (Covent Garden) and Buddha Bar (Embankment). In March 2010, Okamoto joined Ichi Sushi and Sashimi Bar as Head chef at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London hotel.
